Mark Higgs, New South WalesMark Higgs, the New South Wales left hand bat and slow left arm (orthodox and chinaman) bowler was aged 25 when signing for Church. Mark became a regular member of the News South Wales side from the end of 1999, batting at 5 or 6.

He had experience of playing in England, having been professional for Redcar in the North East, from where he came highly recommended.

His first class record includes a score of 181 against Queensland, featuring in a partnership of 264 with Shane Lee, a man of the match award again against Queensland, and a fastest one day fifty of the season. He topped the NSW Mercantile Mutual Cup (One Day) averages in 2000/2001 with 205 runs at 102.50.

Mark was selected for the Australia 'A' squad in the year of signing.

He had been described as 'an accomplished slow left arm bowler and an aggressive strokemaker with the ability to take an attack apart'. Recommended to the Club by Brendan McArdle, Mark followed in the footsteps of Peter Taylor and Graeme Smith as New South Wales players to represent Church in recent years.
