Nelson 97 all out
Church 85 all out
Church took 6 points but that was mere consolation after losing a match they looked to have at least partly in the bag at the interval.
Reduced to 30 overs after a late start, the boys bowled Nelson out for a modest total, Andy Bentley taking 7 for 48 and Luke Woodcock two for 24 including the vital scalp of opposite number Robin Peterson.
Some brilliant catching and generally fine out-cricket, typified by a direct hit throw to run out Lord by skipper Phil Gilrane, backed up the bowlers superbly.
But it was a disappointing second half to the afternoon as we got well behind the rate and lost wickets regularly with only Sam Holt, with 16, and Woodcock (10) .in double figures.
A late rally saw Andy Bentley plunder 25 off 18 balls to put us back in with a shout but he fell to Peterson off the first ball of the final over with 13 required to win and the Nelson pro finished proceedings by taking the next two wickets to finish the game with a hat-trick,
A Bentley 15-2-48-7
Luke Woodcock 6.2—0-24-2
A Bentley 25
S Holt 16
