06/09/2009 - Versus East Lancs (Away)
Church 70 all out
East Lancs 74 for 6
A poor performance on a miserable afternoon on a barely-playable pitch capped a disappointing weekend which began with Saturday's total wash-out at Ramsbottom.
We remain in a creditable fifth position but to maintain that or climb any higher there will have to be a bit more commitment and application displayed in next weekend's home double header against title-chasing Accrington and mid-table Burnley.
It was a bad toss to lose at The Meadows and a much-weakened team - no Holts or Sagawat Hussain for various reasons - found it hard going particularly as the excellent East Lancs pro Brendan Nash bowled a superb spell, taking 6 for 23, conceding runs at little more than one an over.
Only Sam Tucker and Levi Wolfenden made double figures.
There was a brief thought that this team which has turned so many games on its head might even pull this one out of the fire after Nash went cheaply and the home side subsided to 56 for 6, but the threat of rain closing in sparked a few long-handle hits to take the Blackburn side over the line.
Sam Tucker 11
Levi Wolfenden 14
Pete Rowbotham 7 not out
Luke Woodcock 11.2-1-45-3
Philiop Gilrane 6-2-15-2
Levi Wolfenden 6-1-14-1
